Our class participated in the 8th Grade Youth Event at our Cathedral of Christ the Light on September 28. For many, this was their first visit to the Cathedral. We had a great time and lots of laughs on the plaza during the icebreaker activities with other schools. We heard Chris Stefanick speak about our faith and relationship with God. We celebrated liturgy together in the Cathedral, followed by a short lunch break before our tours began. Be sure to look at our photo album for cool shots of icons and symbols in the church, as well as some pictures of the class just having fun!
Ask an 8th grade student about this bronze sculpture located in the Cathedral. What is it called? Who carved the original? Where is the original sculpture located? What is the original made from?
High School Visits
On Monday, October 1, we visited Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward. How fun to ride in the high school's big yellow bus, meet Link Crew leaders, visit the school's library for a video and fun engineering activities, and take a tour of the school to see classes, offices, and more.
Be sure to ask an 8th grader about building bridges ... with cotton swabs and masking tape!
Ask an 8th grader about the number of cotton swabs they were given, and what that number means to Holy Cross and Moreau Catholic!
St. Joseph Notre Dame will visit us on Friday, and at the end of the month, we'll visit Bishop O'Dowd with the 7th grade class!
Junior High Dance Schedule
Here is the dance schedule for our root. The schedule is subject to change without notice, and additional invitations from schools outside our root may not be included in this list: April 19: St. Clement May 10: St. Felicitas
Leadership: Faith Families
The week of October 1-5 marked a literacy celebration called Reading Is Fun week at St. John Catholic School.
The 8th graders finally had the opportunity to meet their newest Faith Family members and lead their families in a fun-filled activity! The 8th graders chose their favorite children's book to read to their family, and developed and led their family in a related activity.
Congratulation 8th graders on a VERY successful first Faith Family event! You are true leaders of the school!
